Established in 1926 with the aim of preserving and studying Atlanta's
history, the Atlanta History Center has evolved into an expansive 33-acre
facility. It boasts extensive gardens, four historic houses, diverse
programs, events, exhibitions, and a research center. With such a rich
offering, it's crucial to tailor the visitor experience to individual
interests.
To understand visitors' experiences with the AHC and
formulate design solutions that align with the organization's vision of
connecting people, history, and culture, I took a human-centered approach
to our research, employing five distinct primary methods, gathering
insights from museum organizers, visitors, and on-site observations,
complemented by additional secondary research.
The designed
experience incorporates solutions for key findings in our research,
attracting new visitors while deepening connections with existing patrons.
It aims to make the AHC experience more memorable and accessible for those
interested in exploring Atlanta's history and culture.
